Gandhi Jayanthi Celebration

EPORT ON GANDHI JAYANTHI CELEBRATION

Peace is the most powerful weapon of mankind. It takes more courage to take a blow than to give one.” ~ Mahatma Gandhi.

Gandhi Jayanthi was celebrated on 2nd October 2014, at Lourdes Central School open ground. The programme began with a prayer song.

A devotional ambience prevailed as the programme started with a meaningful prayer service in the form of ‘Sarva Dharma Prarthana’. As Gandhiji said “The need of the moment is not one religion but mutual respect and tolerance of different religions.” It was proved by Lourdites reading a verse each from the Bible, Quran, Bhagavatgeetha,Gurugranth and Kalpasutra.   The students read out and interpreted the verses.

Rev. Fr  Michael Lobo,  Principal, LCS welcomed the gathering. Rev. Fr Wilson L Vitus D’Souza, Manager, LCS along with Ms Belita Mascarenhas, Vice-Principal were present. The significance of the day was given by Srishti Rai of Class X followed by a song “Raghupathi Raghava Rajaram” dedicated to Gandhiji by the school choir. To uphold the value of non violence, students of class II and III performed a fascinating dance on peace. Rev. Fr Wilson L Vitus D’Souza, in his Presidential Address upheld the values of Gandhiji and highlighted the sacrifice he made for the country.
