The decennial year celebration

The Decennial Year Celebration of the Senior Secondary Section was held on 22 nd December 2009 at LCS Open Grounds at 6:00 p.m.

The Masters of Ceremony for the day Deepak Lobo and Afshan of Class XII warmly welcomed all the dignitaries and the guests. Among the dignitaries were the Chief Guest Dr. (Prof.) K.M.Kaveriappa, Vice Chancellor, Mangalore University; Guest of Honour Mr.Amith Singh, IPS, Assistant Superindent of Police, Mangalore; President Rev. Msgr. Denis Moras Prabhu, Vicar General and Vice President of CBE; and Principal Ms Grace Noronha.

The first batch of teachers of Lourdes Central School was given the honour to share the dais with the dignitaries. The team included Vice Principal Ms Joy Rai, Ms Belita Mascarenhas, Ms Lydia D'Souza, Ms Grace Roche, Ms Saira D'Souza and Ms Philomena Pereira.

The dais was also adorned by the past Presidents of the Parent Teacher Association- Ms Giselle Mehta, Ms Ashwini Punja, Mr Edward Lewis and Mr Pratham Bhandary.

The programme began with a prayer dance by the teachers. This was followed by an action song by the children of the Kindergarten Section.

The Principal Ms. Grace Noronha delivered the welcome address and presented the decennial report of the annual and important milestones of the decade. Introduction of the guests was done by Ms Joy Rai, Vice-Principal. The felicitation ceremony was conducted by Ms Violet D'Souza, Staff Co-ordinator. In the felicitation ceremony, the founder of Lourdes Central School , Late Rev. Fr. B L D'Souza was honoured by Rev. Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu with a floral offering. The pilot team was honoured for their yeoman service to this renowned institution on this occasion. The founder Principal Ms Grace Noronha was given a floral offering for captaining the ship of Lourdes Central School with efficiency and masterly skill right from inception. The pioneer staff of Lourdes Central School and the past Presidents of Parent Teacher Association were also honoured on this day. This was also followed by honouring the entire dedicated staff of Lourdes Central School with a decennial trophy.

The Vice Principal Ms Joy Rai expressed words of gratitude on behalf of the pilot team. The guest of honour Mr. Amith Singh advised the gathering to be law abiding and upright citizens of the country.

The Chief guest Dr( Prof) K M Kaveriappa addressed the gathering and urged the audience to strive towards perfection. He further added that a child's mind is like a clean slate. If wrong things are written on the slate, then the child would be a burden to the society but if good things are written, the child can transform the society.

President Rev. Msgr. Denis Moras Prabhu spoke on the occasion and said that Lourdes Central School has its name and fame solely because of the ardent and tireless effort of the teaching and non-teaching faculty of Lourdes Central School in close collaboration with the parents of wards. He exhorted that we need men and women of character grounded with good values. He wished the school success in the years to come.

On this momentous occasion the Principal and the faculty thought it fit to institute scholarships to the meritorious students. Ms Grace Noronha, the Principal has contributed her mite in addition of Rs 15,000 to the gifted cheque of Rs 10,000 as founder Principal. The faculty also contributed Rs 25,000 for the same cause to commemorate the decennial year.

Ms. Belita Mascarenhas, the staff co-ordinator expressed words of gratitude.

The Parent team of Lourdes Central School put up a conceptual dance delivering an important message to the children, parents and teachers about the upbringing of a child. This was followed by an English play by the students of class XI and XII with a tinge of humour ‘ Christmas at the Jones' directed by Ms Sheeba Samuel and assisted by Ms Violet D'Souza.

The programme ended with the coming of Santa who brought the message of love, peace and harmony.
