Lourdes Central School, Bejai, here, celebrated on Wednesday February 11, the feast of Mother Mary, their patroness to commemorate her revelation to Bernadette at Lourdes, a small village in France.
The function started with a thanks giving mass sponsored by the outgoing students of Class X, batch of 2008 – 09, at Bejai St Francis Xavier Church.
The celebrations were held at the Bejai Church Hall. The function was presided over by Bejai parish priests Fr Ajit and Fr Naveen.
PTEC vice president Vivian Sequeira, Lourdes Central School principal Grace Noronha and vice principal Joy Rai were also present at dais.
The prayer hymn 'Ave Maria' was sung by the Lourdes Central School choir group, under the baton of music leader Ivan Mascarenhas.
A skit depicting the appearance of Mother Mary to Bernadette was enacted. A tableau depicting the fruits of the spirit – love, joy, peace and unity was also shown at the occasion.
Lourdes Central School principal Grace Noronha and Fr Ajith enlightened the students, on the significance of celebrating this feast.
The programme concluded with the rendition of the hymn Mother of Lourdes pray for us, by Lourdes Central School choir.
Teachers Violet, Grace Roche, Shaila Pereira, Theresa Monteiro, Lavina Castelino and Shanthi Menezes compered the programme.
