Principal and GSP Team's visit to the United Kingdom

 

Principal Ms Grace Noronha with three teachers Ms Violet D'Souza , Ms Rekha Shetty and Ms Linet D'Souza visited The Pilton Bluecoat Church of England, Junior School, Devon, U.K. from 3 rd Oct - 14 th Oct 2009 . The team interacted with various dignitaries like the Mayor and Member of Parliament and the members of staff, students,parents and governors of the partnership school, Devon,U.K. Teachers presented the projects on ‘Sustainable development and diversity of India' to the students of Pilton bluecoat School.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The team visited some of the important land marks of Devon like Guild hall-Barnstaple, Alington Court ,Buckfast Abbey and Clovelly . The team had an enriching experience visiting educational institutions like Pathfield Junior and Senior school for Special Children, wherein they are given one to one care and attention .They are trained to become independent by developing their potential . On visiting Chulmleigh Community College the team interacted with the Principal, teaching faculty and students and learnt their system of education.

 

The visit to United Kingdom was a very thrilling experience for schools of both the Countries.

My Role Model

 

A competition 'My Role Model' was organized by the department of English, Lourdes Central School, here recently.

Speaking to Daijiworld, Joy Rai, International School Accreditation (ISA) coordinator, Lourdes Central School, said that the competition was conducted as part of the ten projects being the preliminaries to get the accreditation from British Council, out of which two projects are undertaken by the department of English.

The project to get the accreditation from British Council is a beginning to get the international recognition. The school is aiming at Global School Partnership (GPA) which will enable the school to exchange ideas on various issues both curricular and extra curricular.  The projects have been undertaken in consultation with Grace Noronha, principal, Lourdes Central School, informed Violet D'Souza, coordinator, department of English.

The feed back of the resource persons reads favourably and passes on positive comments with the insignificant negative aspects in the content, delivery, body language, language, concluding that it was a credible performance overall with very high potential for excellence.

The feed back with special reference to content says the speeches were well conceived and put together. Comments on the delivery stated that participants display the talents and profound scholarly traits, in the over all assessment of body language, besides they displayed confidence improved eye contact. The resource persons also highlighted in their feed back that pronunciation except a few minor slips was good.

The participants were Disha Bhandary, Tanvi Pinto, Nisha M H, Daphne Crasta, Mithali Pinto and Savanha Sequeira. 

Krishna Prasad Adappa and Capt Ram Prasad were the resource persons. Kevin Fernandes compered the programme.
