Grandparents day - Report by Linette Pereira
Lourdes Central School celebrated "Grandparents Day" for the first time in past ten years. It was a unique event of LCS kindergarten where all the grandparents were felicitated by the staff and students.
Principal Ms Grace Noronha who presided over the function said that, in these times where some grandparents are sent to old age homes and the family values decreasing, we at LCS have made an earnest effort to build up respect and cordiality with our senior citizens who really deserve to get the same in return to all they have done for us.
It was a feast to the eyes to see little Lourdites speaking on the topics "Myself and My family". Small skit on "My Family" which was written and directed by Ms Grace Roche, faculty of kindergarten LCS, was enacted by our own KG staff. Spot games were conducted by Ms Lolita Mascarenhas and Ms Jasmine D'Souza, Ms Prema Menezes read out the names of the prize winners, Ms Metilda Pinto proposed the vote of thanks.
In the end grandparents gave their views on the programme. They were overwhelmed with joy, as such a celebration is not conducted in any place. They congratulated the Principal and staff on this venture.
On the whole it was a grand success. The programme was concluded with a National Anthem.
