CONSTITUTION DAY – 26th NOVEMBER 2017

“Constitution is not a mere lawyer’s document; it is a Vehicle of Life, and its spirit is always the Spirit of Age.” – B.R. Ambedkar.
26th November is celebrated as the National Constitution Day i.e., the day we adopted the Indian Constitution in the year 1949. The initiative to mark this day was taken by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi in October 2015. So, we at Lourdes Central School, Bejai, Mangaluru commemorated this day on 27th November 2017 with a small programme. We started out – like always – with the Universal prayer and a melodious prayer song. A very meaningful quote was given by Deon of Class IXA. To tell us exactly what this day is about – since most of us don’t even know when the Constitution Day is – was Kshama Bhat of Class XD. A Hindi song was sung by the students of Class VIII about the constitution and the Preamble was read out by the entire Lourdite family headed by Vanshika Shetty of Class XIB. It was a very informative programme for all of us and as Abraham Lincoln once said and I quote – “Don’t interfere with anything in the Constitution. That must be maintained, for it is the only safeguard to our liberties.”

Stephen King once said “Books are a uniquely portable magic.”
We also had another important celebration today – the inaugural ceremony of library week! We were told about the importance of libraries and books and the many benefits of reading. We were encouraged to visit the school library and not-so-subtly urged to study for our upcoming exams. We were also reminded about the upcoming competitions taking place later this week in connection with library week.

The birthday children were then wished. The Principal gave us his wise words and stressed that all should do our duties responsibly. The Assembly concluded with the School Anthem.

Navya Bhandary and Rimsha A. Jaleel
