Report on Measles – Rubella Vaccine
A briefing session on The Measles – Rubella vaccine initiated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India was held for parents on 24.01.2017 at Bejai Church Hall.
Two sessions were held . One for K.G to class V and the other for class VI to class IX .A large number of parents participated in this session.
The Resource persons were Dr. Sudharshan C.M ,Project Medical officer , District Health Centre Mangaluru (Parent of Suhena class 5 ) and Dr. Sathish Chandra Surveillance officer from W.H.O.
Both the Medical Officers briefed the parents about the vaccine and how its going to protect children from major childhood deadly disease like measles and rubella. The queries raised by the parents were answered by them patiently and cleared all their doubts and apprehensions.
Ma’am Linette welcomed the gathering during the first session .Ma’am Noileen welcomed the gathering during 2nd session . Fr .Principal in his address ,urged the parents to motivate their children to take the vaccine and make use of the benefits provided by the Government of India . Ma’am Rekha N. proposed the vote of thanks .
The mandatory measles and rubella (MR) vaccination drive planned by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India at Lourdes central school for children aged between 5 and 15 witnessed an overwhelming response from students on 11-2-2017. Many parents supported and brought their children for vaccination.
LCS school principal Rev Fr. Robert D’souza made elaborate arrangements and allotted rooms to ensure that the drive is conducted smoothly . The timings for the vaccination was given as 9.15 to 12 noon.
M.R. Vaccination promptly commenced at 9.15 am and concluded at 12 noon . A team of 2 doctors Dr. Rajeshwari and Dr. Preethi along with 9 vaccinators conducted the immunisation process. The students were administered the vaccine.
Students of K.G – I (A,B,C) and K.G – II (A,B,C) were vaccinated in K.G – I A and K.G – II A section room with Ms. Grace Roche as lead teacher along with 5 associate teachers .
Students of class I- (A,B,C,D ) were vaccinated in I- A and II- A section room with Ms. Lisa as lead teacher along with 5 associate teachers .
Students of class II – (A,B,C,D ) were vaccinated in II – C and III- A section room with Ms. Fransisca as lead teacher along with 4 associate teachers .
Students of class III – (A,B,C,D ) were vaccinated behind the school canteen with Ms. Aruna as lead teacher along with 5 associate teachers.
Students of class IV – (A,B,C,D ) were vaccinated in class IV- A and IV- B section room with Ms. Lolita as lead teacher along with 5 associate teachers.
Students of class V – (A,B,C ) were vaccinated in Auditorium with Ms. Sunitha as lead teacher along with 4 associate teachers .
Students of class VI – (A,B,C ) were vaccinated in Bio-lab with Ms. Noileen as lead teacher along with 4 associate teachers .
Students of class VII – (A,B,C ) were vaccinated in XI- A and XI- B section room with Ms. Vivita as lead teacher along with 4 associate teachers .
Students of class VIII – (A,B,C ) were vaccinated in XI- A and XII- C section room with Ms. Lavina S. as lead teacher along with 2 associate teachers .
Students of class IX – (A,B,C,D ) were vaccinated in 10- A and 10- C section room with Ms. Seema M. as lead teacher along with 4 associate teachers .
The students of K.G 1 and 2, class I ,II, III were accompanied by their parents and teachers to their respective rooms to avail of the benefit .
All staff and non teaching staff cooperated for the smooth functioning of M.R. Vaccination.
Ms. Linet Pereira was the coordinator for K.G to class V. Ms. Suchitha was a coordinator for VI to IX.
