CONSTITUTION DAY – 26th NOVEMBER 2018

“The Constitution is not a mere lawyer’s document, it is a vehicle of life and its spirit is always the spirit of age” – Thus said Dr B R Ambedkar. Constitution Day or Samvidhan Divas is celebrated on 26th November every year to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution on the same day in 1949. Lourdes Central School commemorated the day on 27th November 2018 with a programme which began with the Choir Group leading the Lourdites into prayer. Joshal of Class X enlightened the audience with the thought for the day. All the students recited the Preamble in unison and were led by Navya Bhandary of Class XI. Georgie of Class X threw light on the significance of the Constitution and the importance of the day. The students of Class IX made their melodious contribution to the day’s events by presenting a song on the Preamble. The students of Classes IX and X expressed their patriotism through a mesmerizing fusion dance. India is a melting pot of diverse cultures and ethnicities. Bhasha Sangham was organised by the School to celebrate the linguistic diaspora of the country. The language of the day was Assamese; Siddharth of Class XII and Shanthi of Class XI taught the students how a basic conversation in Assamese was carried out. This was followed by the Principal’s address. Rev. Fr Robert D’Souza stressed on the Fundamental Rights and Duties of each person and encouraged the students to do their duty. He also urged the students to learn and love the languages of India. The programme concluded with the Lourdite family singing the School Anthem in unison.
