SOCIAL SCIENCE EXHIBITION
SOCIAL SCIENCE EXHIBITION 2017
Imagine – Invent – Inspire!!
The road to success for 99% of people isn’t a jump… It’s a steady incline from one successful project to the next! -Lee Morris
Lourdes Central School, Bejai, Mangaluru held the Social Science Exhibition for classes VI to X on 25th October 2017 which was a grand success. It was an eventful day, where everyone -both students and teachers learned a lot from each other.
Aims and Objectives:
1. To apply what the students learn.
2. To develop the student’s creative, aesthetic, kinaesthetic and speaking skills.
3. To showcase the talents of students.
4. To highlight the role of social development and to inculcate feelings of
oneness.
Our school’s creative Sixth Graders opened our eyes to the vast universe beyond, with their projects on the theme ‘Our Solar System’. Their models on the different planets and constellations, the sun, the moon and the stars were innovative, imaginative and sometimes a little too creative.
The Seventh Graders with their theme ‘Environment’ brought to the forefront the different aspects of our environment with their models on the mountains, grasslands, wetlands, forests, biosphere and working of rivers, while highlighting their degradation.
The Eighth Graders introduced us to the ever-growing world of industries by showing the inner workings of industries like cotton, jute, coffee, poultry and dairy. The models were inventive and showed industries through a very different perspective.
Class IX had to present projects on the topic ‘Disaster Management’, which is ironic considering they are a disaster themselves (in a good way though). They shone light upon the shadows of the modern world with their projects on terrorism, natural disasters, industrial and chemical disasters etc.
And last, but certainly not the least, the students of Class X presented the topic ‘Popular Struggles and Movements’ which was quite a struggle for them. They spoke about the importance of common people in a democracy and showed how different countries had achieved democracy throughout history.
All in all, it was a great learning experience for everybody and a lot of fun too. Each project in its own way was notable and unique. We would like to conclude by quoting John F. Kennedy – “Things do not happen. Things are made to happen”.
